Rolls-Royce's classic models

Rolls-Royce Phantom (Rolls-Royce Phantom) is the first product launched by Rolls-Royce after it was acquired by BMW. Through the use of aluminum, the huge body weighs less than 2.5 tons, coupled with the cooperation of the 6.7-liter V12 engine and the six-speed automatic transmission, the Phantom accelerates from 0-100Km/h in less than 6 seconds, and the maximum speed is limited to 240Km/h due to the consideration of safety.

The Phantom inherits the classic Rolls-Royce design: long bonnet, short front and long rear overhangs. The long wheelbase creates a spacious interior, and the vertical front hood and high beams add to its extraordinary aura. Another characteristic of Rolls-Royce is its roofline, which adds a subdued flavor to the vehicle as it blends into the sturdy C-pillar at the rear. At the bottom of the car, another curved line that runs from the back to the front but subtly upward mirrors the gently descending roofline. Other features include a hidden rear window that combines with the C-pillar to provide greater privacy for rear-seat passengers and a wide side profile.

The public also sees the highest level of craftsmanship and the finest materials on Phantom cars. For example, the interior of a Rolls-Royce uses 16 hides, one of which is a natural grain leather for the seats, and the other a woven, "edged" leather for the door supports and center console. All 450 pieces of leather in the interior were laser-guided to ensure precision. No fewer than six types of veneer are used for the woodwork: gorgeous mahogany from West Africa, Burr walnut, maple and black tulipwood from North America, oak burl and elm from Europe. While the colors and moods vary widely with the woods used, the quality of workmanship remains second to none.

The Rolls-Royce is a masterpiece of sturdiness and sensuality. The leather used in the car smells vaguely of cow, the carpets feel like wool, the hardwood armrests next to the windows look like they were carved, and the art-deco reflectors have a dreamy feel.

Rolls-Royce craftsmanship is also available on a larger scale to meet the needs of individual customers. Each Rolls-Royce requires a careful selection of colors, textures, laminates and equipment, as it is virtually impossible for Rolls-Royce to produce two identical cars.

The Rolls-Royce Reservations programme, together with the skilled craftsmen who can create personalized interiors, such as a wine cooler or a ladies' dressing room, takes the theme of individuality to an even greater level. Although there are only 18 exterior colors that form the 68 basic color combinations, the Rolls-Royce Reservation Program actually offers more color options.

At the heart of the Rolls-Royce is a special powertrain, a naturally-aspirated 60-degree v12 engine designed specifically for Rolls-Royce, mated to zf's six-speed automatic transmission.

The Rolls-Royce's torque delivery curve is almost always flat. At 1,000 rpm, it already produces a remarkable 500 Newton-meters, which is 75 percent of its peak torque (the engine reaches its peak of 720 Newton-meters at 3,500 rpm). The massive 2.5-ton body accelerates from a standstill to 100 kilometers per hour in 5.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 240 kilometers per hour. The entire engine, which was hand-built in Munich by technical experts, produces a powerful output at very low revs and is quite quiet and smooth, making it an industry classic.

The huge torque reserves mean that for every time the driver presses the gas pedal, the car picks up speed smoothly and without hesitation. At 5,350 rpm, the engine output is rated at a maximum of 453 horsepower (338 kW, 453 hp, sae). Other technologically advanced features of this engine include variable valve timing and cutting-edge variable valve lift technology.

The latter is an extremely efficient system that uses the intake valves to regulate the amount of air entering the cylinders, thus overcoming the inherent shortcomings of the throttle butterfly valve. The throttle butterfly valve has been an integral part of the internal combustion engine from the beginning. The result has been improved fuel consumption at low and even speeds, as well as instant throttle response; the engine delivers power smoothly, no matter how high a speed it's running at.

The Mirage uses BMW's V12, the same engine used in the BMW 760Li***. Transplanted to the Mirage after the exhaust volume increased to 6749mL using direct in-cylinder injection system, at 5350r/min to 338kW of maximum power, and the most impressive is when the speed of the car at 160km/h, the engine only 25% output, at 1000r/min torque has reached 540Nm, almost 60% of the maximum torque. The Mirage has a very unique display: there's no tachometer in the instrumentation, instead there's a kinetic energy display, with the numbers in the gauge representing the percentage of engine output. A six-speed automatic transmission from ZF is used to keep the engine's enormous energy under control. And the transmission is controlled with a column-mounted lever similar to BMW's. Flick the lever into D and the "palace" moves with ease.

The oversized steering wheel doesn't feel strong in your hand, but it's very smooth. Because of the huge body and the expensive price of the car there are concerns, not very "enjoyable" to drive. But even with this behemoth of a car, the Mirage is still very precise in its directions. With a little attention to its understeer, and following the "slow in, fast out" principle, the Mirage can still be fun to drive.

The Mirage uses a suspension system very similar to that of the BMW 7 Series. The front double wishbone design, the upper fork arm and a lower swing arm over the control rod to form a complex suspension system, after the use of multi-link design, and a fixed control arm, to control the stability of the vehicle in addition to the function of anti-dive and assisted steering. Both front and rear use air-type springs for automatic body balancing, and the driving style and road conditions can be monitored 100 times per second by sensors for optimum comfort and stability.

And Michelin made specifically for the Mirage PAX tires, 31-inch size is really some amazing, model 265 × 790R540 is also rare, at least in the country is the first time to see. And this tire in the occurrence of air leakage accident, you can also 80km / h speed of 160km, enough to reach the next repair station, which may also be the Mirage does not install spare tires, right?

The Mirage uses an aluminum tubular frame. The chassis weighs just 550kg for a 6m long body, another impressive figure. And such a frame comes from BMW's technical center. But don't worry about the strength of the frame, the torsional stiffness reaches an index of 40,500Nm/°, which is almost twice as much as an ordinary steel-bodied sedan. Only 4mm difference between the front and rear brake discs (374mm front / 370mm rear) using front dual-piston calipers rear single-piston calipers, plus ABS and emergency brake assist device, provides sufficient braking force protection.

Rolls-Royce products rarely mentioned airbag settings, mainly for their own body enough confidence, such as rear-seat passengers in the huge C-pillar under the guarantee and is located in the rear of the body stiffness of the highest position above, basically do not need airbags, only in the front row to provide the configuration of the airbag. Rolls-Royce's new stretched Phantom has been designed and built to meet the requirements of customers in the Asia Pacific region. The new Phantom will be more spacious in the back, while still maintaining the classic shape and first-class driving feel of the Phantom. The new model is 250 millimeters longer than the standard Mirage, with the extension behind the B-pillar, making the rear even more spacious. The extra interior space is a perfect example of "customization".

The body of the new Phantom is the largest aluminium spaceframe ever built, and it has always been Rolls-Royce's proud mission to create a 'personalized cabin' to meet the needs and requirements of Rolls-Royce customers. The new extended Phantom is entirely hand-built, designed, engineered and handcrafted by Rolls-Royce Motor Cars in the same way as the standard Phantom.

The Rolls-Royce Phantom Plus combines modernity with classic and timeless design elements, and introduces cutting-edge technology that dramatically improves drivetrain performance and enhances the product's effortless handling and functionality. To commemorate the success of the London 2012 Olympic Games, Rolls-Royce is also launching a special commemorative edition of the Phantom, of which only three will be available worldwide. No official announcement has been made on the pricing of this commemorative edition of the Phantom for the London Olympics.

The special edition is based on the Phantom Series II soft-top convertible, and includes a number of commemorative touches, such as a front-end logo featuring the "Goddess of Jubilation" wearing the British flag, and a steering wheel with the traditional laurel crown of the Olympics and torch motifs in the center of the steering wheel.

Additionally, the words "London 2012 Olympics" remain vertical in the center of the wheel, and each car is fitted with a uniquely designed welcome mat to emphasize the rarity of "only three in the world". The Rolls-Royce Convertible HypeRIOn, a 1930s luxury automobile, was commissioned by Rolls-Royce and built by Pininfarina, a major challenge for the Italian company.

The Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe became the basis for the development of the convertible HypeRIOn, with the model's rear seats removed to allow more space, allowing the driving position to be moved back by 400 millimeters. In order to more accurately represent the style of pre-World War II cars, Pininfarina extended the roof and shortened the rear of the car, while retaining a series of graceful, softly streamlined shapes.

The classic Rolls-Royce grille is naturally retained, although it has been angled at certain spokes for better aerodynamics, and a set of recessed xenon headlamps with LED light technology. Much of the body is made of carbon fiber, but the doors are hand-beaded in a luxury yacht style and made of solid wood. most of the Drophead Coupe's interior remains, and Jaeger-LeCoultre designed a vintage 1945 watch specifically for the Hyperion to sit on the dashboard, which can also be removed and worn on the hand. LONDON, England, October 17, 2007 - The world's oldest surviving Rolls-Royce automobile, dating back to 1904 and 103 years old, will be auctioned at Bonhams in December. It has two seats and a 10 horsepower engine. Only three owners have owned this classic car so far.

It was actually first shown at the Paris Salon in 1904, long before its public debut at the 1905 Olympic Motor Show in London, England. The car was collected as a collector's item by its then owner as early as the 1950s. The car is expected to fetch over two million dollars at auction. In response to International Breast Cancer Day, Rolls-Royce has created a special model called the FAB1 Edition, based on the Ghost long-wheelbase version, and plans to raise one million pounds by leasing it out over the course of the year for breast cancer prevention and treatment.
