Remuneration for use of works by publishing units

Publishers have to pay authors for publishing books, so what are the payment methods? How is it calculated? Let’s take a look. !

(1) Payment method for publishing books

1. Royalty method

Settlement with copyright owner once every year

Royalty = Book pricing (book wholesale price)? Circulation number (number of prints, actual sales)? Royalty rate

If the first issue is less than a thousand copies, the royalty will be paid based on a thousand copies, but the royalty will be paid the next time the royalty is settled. The portion already paid will not be repaid.

The royalty rate standards stipulated by the National Copyright Administration (reference): 3%-10% for original works and 1%-7% for derivative works.

2. Basic royalties plus royalties for the number of prints

Full remuneration must be paid within 6 months of publication

Basic royalties: add the number of words in the book to which remuneration is payable Convert it into a thousand words, and then multiply it by the payment standard of a certain amount of yuan per thousand words

The portion of the actual total number of words that is less than a thousand words will be calculated as a thousand words

Original 30-100 yuan , 10-50 yuan for adaptation, 3-10 yuan for compilation, 20-80 yuan for translation, annotation (original)

Remuneration for print runs: in units of 1,000 copies, 1% of the basic manuscript thickness for each thousand copies Calculation

If the cumulative print run of compulsory education textbooks exceeds 100,000 copies, the calculation is based on 0.2% of the basic royalties for each thousand copies.

If the cumulative print run of administrative means products exceeds 100,000 copies. For part of the print run, 0.3% of the basic royalties will be calculated for each thousand copies

For parts with a print run of less than a thousand copies, the calculation will be based on a thousand copies

The payment method for the print run should be specified in the publishing contract. It is clearly stated in it

3. One-time payment method (please refer to the basic royalties)

(2) The method of payment for works published in newspapers and periodicals

Only adopted One-time payment is a standard payment of no less than 20 yuan per 1,000 words. If it is less than 500 words, it will be calculated as half a thousand words; if it is more than 500 words but less than 1,000 words, it will be calculated as a thousand words. Remuneration will be paid within two months from the date of use of the work.

(3) Payment methods for the production and publication of audio and video products

70% is paid to the copyright owner of the interpretation work, and 30% is paid to the copyright owner of the original work.

(4) Payment methods for producing and publishing electronic publications and Internet publications

Refer to the payment standards for relevant works

(5) Published works Methods of payment for sublicensing others to publish overseas

The publishing unit shall pay 60% of the total remuneration to the copyright owner

The publishing unit shall respect the rights of the copyright owner:

Respect the author’s right to publish, sign, modify and protect the integrity of the work

2. Respect the property rights of the copyright holder in accordance with the law< /p>
