Highlights

Former French Pavilion

The former Italian Pavilion is fully transparent and was designed with the theme of "City of People", inspired by the traditional Shanghai game of "Game Stick". The pavilion is composed of 20 irregular functional modules, representing the 20 regions of Italy. The entire exhibition hall is like a miniature Italian city, full of traditional urban elements such as alleys, courtyards, paths and piazzas. The use of new transparent concrete materials creates a marvelous effect and allows more natural light into the room.

Meta-Italy Pavilion

The original Luxembourg Pavilion was a dark brown color, with the words "small but beautiful" standing out on the facade. The design was inspired by the association of the word "Luxembourg" with the Chinese words for "forest and fortress". The pavilion is made of recycled materials such as steel, wood and glass, reflecting the contemporary concept of environmental protection, efficiency and sustainability.

The Original Luxembourg Pavilion

The Original Russia Pavilion, with its exotic appearance, was designed with the theme of "City and People" and the concept of "The Adventures of Little Ignorance" by the famous Soviet children's writer Nikolay Nosov, presenting a beautiful, delicate and fairy-tale-like children's garden city. The pavilion is like a flower and a "tree of life", with 12 "petals" forming a tower, and 12 towers surrounding it, forming a joyful dance shape. The top of the tower is decorated with openwork patterns representing Russian national costumes, symbolizing the mutual integration of Russian nationalities.

After the renovation, the four major venues will be built as new spaces for cultural education and exhibitions. "Externally, the venues have retained their original character, but efforts have been made on the inside." The designer told reporters that the four major venues were temporary buildings, and the remodeling has been structurally reinforced, thus turning them into permanent buildings.

The Expo Park is based on the four reserved venues and features exquisite gardens strung with cherry blossom rings, begonia gardens and other features, showcasing Expo memories through nature and culture. The Expo Park focuses on a wide variety of spring flowers and is surrounded by a 1-hectare central lawn, an exquisite European-style garden on the east side, a 100-meter wisteria promenade on the southwest side, and a green, pink-flowered Shanghai magnolia forest on the north side.
