What does Ciba mean?

Ciba: A kind of food made by steaming and mashing glutinous rice.

Glutinous rice Baba is a special snack in China, a traditional food with strong local characteristics and a long history, which is steamed and mashed from glutinous rice. It has a unique taste and rich nutrition, and is deeply loved by everyone. It is not only full, but also very delicious.

Ciba is one of the "Ten Treasures" of agricultural products in Guangshan, which has been circulated for thousands of years, and its production technology has been included in the intangible cultural heritage. In the past, making Ciba was a symbol of wealth, because only in good years can there be extra glutinous rice to make Ciba, and few people make Ciba in bad years.

In the 1970s and 1980s, our family lived in Guangshan County, and our parents were teachers of the first high school in the county. At that time, especially during the Spring Festival, Bazin was the most common gift for visiting relatives and friends. Parents' students or friends often bring us some Ciba when they come.

Ciba is a white rectangle in appearance, which is generally cut to half the size of A4 paper and has a thickness of about 2-3cm. Ciba is easy to crack and mildew when stored for a long time, so it is usually stored in clear water. I remember that there is a small water tank at home for storing Ciba.

Add clean water to the jar, and immerse the ciba in the clean water. It is best to spread out when storing. Clean water needs to be replaced every one or two days, so that the surface of the rice cake will not crack and maintain its original taste, otherwise it will be sticky and smelly.

So I often see my mother check the zanba in that small water tank. Every time, she opened it one by one like counting inventory. If there is no problem, she will change the water and continue to store it, which usually lasts for several months.

There are many ways to eat Ciba: it can be roasted, boiled, fried and fried. Different ways have different tastes. Whatever you eat, eat it while it's hot. Take a bite, it feels soft, delicious, a little sticky, and it smells like glutinous rice. If you can dip in sugar, it will taste better.

If you don't eat it for a long time, it will become cold and hard, and if you eat it again, it will taste bad. However, you can't eat too much at a time, otherwise it is not conducive to digestion.
