What thread is commonly used in embroidery?

1, (1) fine cotton embroidery thread

Pure cotton fine embroidery thread is twisted by single yarn, and there are about 40 color systems, and each color system has about 6 ~ 9 color levels from shallow to deep. It can be used in combination, and attention should be paid to combination embroidery when embroidering pure cotton fine thread on rough base fabric, otherwise the embroidered pattern is easy to bubble, exposing the base fabric and uneven.

(2) Pure cotton coarse embroidery thread

Pure cotton coarse embroidery thread is made by twisting three yarns, with few color systems, and each color system has 3 ~ 5 color levels. Generally, no strands are used, but at most two strands are used. Suitable for embroidery on hemp and velvet fabrics.

(3) Joint line

Most of the strands are imported embroidery threads, consisting of 6 strands. The thread itself has luster and elegant color, and each color system contains gray components, such as gray green, gray powder, gray blue and so on. The joint venture import line is most suitable for stippling, embroidery and so on.

(4) machine embroidery thread

Machine embroidery thread, as its name implies, is used on sewing machines. It is very tough and strong, and it is not easy to break. It has a good effect on sewing machines. This kind of thread is not suitable for hand embroidery, because it contains talcum powder and pulp, and hand embroidery is easy to knot, and the affinity between embroidery thread and cloth is poor, so the embroidery thread is not easy to settle.

(5) Real silk thread

Real silk thread is a kind of embroidery thread unique to the south of China, just like our ink painting, only China has it. Real silk thread is suitable for embroidery on soft ground cloth such as satin and silk, and can also be used as Shuang Mianxiu on glass yarn. Embroidering animals with real silk thread shows the excellent effect of animal fur with its unique luster.

6. Wool

Wool is generally suitable for small embroidery, which is divided into fine wool, medium thick thread, thick twisted thread and plied thread. Pay attention to the use of coarse twist or twine in embroidery on thick cloth.

(7) Gold and silver thread

Gold and silver thread is generally suitable for plate gold embroidery and diamond embroidery. Because the texture of gold and silver thread is brittle, it is not suitable for complicated stitch embroidery.

(8) Ribbon

Ribbon is a kind of woven colored ribbon. It is suitable for use on thicker and thicker base fabric, and can also be mixed with coarse embroidery thread, with very good effect. If you add bead embroidery and sequins embroidery, the picture effect will be more colorful.

(9) Polyester embroidery thread

Polyester embroidery thread is characterized by chemical resistance, diligent washing of clothes, and reduction of discoloration of clothes. So many hotel uniforms, some blue jeans, sportswear or some children's clothes will use polyester thread. Generally speaking, polyester thread is tougher and stronger than rayon embroidery thread. When machine embroidery is carried out, polyester thread can bear the high tension of embroidery machine, which can make the machine run faster; Moreover, it has high fire resistance, and it is not easy to catch fire even if the polyester is close to the flame. [ 1]

The thread of polyester yarn is not as stable as rayon, because it is made of polyester fiber yarn, so it is more elastic. We can cut the artificial silk thread used in the experiment, pull it a little hard, and then let it go, and we will find that the embroidery thread will not shrink; On the contrary, if the polyester thread is pulled in the same way, once it is loosened, the polyester thread will return to its original length, so there is a chance of wrinkle, so the tension adjustment and setting of embroidery thread need to be more accurate.

(10) Rayon embroidery thread

There is little difference in performance between rayon embroidery thread and polyester embroidery thread. The advantage of the former is that there are more color choices and it is closer to nature. In addition, the stability of rayon is higher than polyester thread, and it will not shrink obviously even if it is pulled by embroidery machine.
