Huaiyang mud dogs are mainly produced in twelve villages in the east of Huaiyang County. This area is 80 miles south of the ancient Wanqiu site and only two miles to Taihao Mausoleum. Lifetime Achievement Award of Clay Dog Art: Fang Guo Fu, Ren Guohe, a native of Huaiyang, began to learn to knead clay dogs with his father at the age of 6, and is now one of the inheritors of clay dog art, a historical and cultural heritage of Henan Province. Clay dog is known as "true totem, living fossil", which is the general name of mud toys in Huaiyang County and a unique local folk art with a history of thousands of years. During the temple fair, nearby villagers sold baskets full of mud dogs to pilgrims, which became another source of income for local farmers besides farming. Mud dogs have special artistic charm and profound folk soil, and are increasingly favored by humanists, folk experts and ordinary tourists.
