What is more problematic is that some whales have two characteristics: first, they often feed on small fish and shrimp, which is just the opposite of the principle of "grasping the big and releasing the small" to protect sustainable fishery resources; Second, whales and dolphins often appear in groups, and wherever they go, they may even bring disaster to economic fish in a marine fishing area. The waters of China, Japan and South Korea are interlinked, and it is not good for China if whales breed in large numbers. According to statistics, whales and dolphins prey on 300 million to 500 million tons of fish, which is 3 to 6 times the fishery consumption of the world population. If this trend continues, whales may even rob people of food and destroy the ecological balance.

More importantly, from China's point of view, if we support the ban on whaling, it is tantamount to agreeing that some foreign politicians and so-called "environmentalists" can manipulate international public opinion, influence an international organization to intervene, and even force countries around the world, including China, to abandon their traditional culture and eating habits and prohibit hunting or mining some economic animals or crops that may not be endangered scientifically. This will help the commercial interests of other countries. It is worth mentioning that Canada, which also attracted enthusiastic cries from European and American politicians and green and equal environmental protection organizations on the issue of killing seals, did not join IWC at all. China must keep a clear head on this issue and not be fooled.
