What is Raynaud's phenomenon
Raynaud's phenomenon is Raynaud's syndrome. Raynaud's syndrome is a group of syndromes in which the fingers (toes) turn pale, purple and then flush due to cold or emotional excitement.
It usually occurs between the ages of 20 and 40, and is more common in women than men.
The onset is slow, starting in winter, lasting a short time, and gradually appearing when exposed to cold or emotional excitement.
It usually occurs symmetrically on the fingers of both hands, but can also occur on the toes.
The cause of Raynaud's syndrome is not yet clear, but it is related to cold stimulation, mood swings, mental stress and endocrine dysfunction. Cold stimulation is the main cause.
Secondary Raynaud's syndrome is common in rheumatic immune diseases, such as systemic lupus erythematosus, rheumatoid arthritis, scleroderma, dermatomyositis/myositis, Sjogren's syndrome, etc.
