What are the primary, secondary and tertiary industries?

In 2003, according to the National Economic Industry Classification (GB/T 4754-2002), China's Bureau of Statistics issued the Circular of the National Bureau of Statistics on the Issuance of the Provisions on the Classification of the Three Industries (Guoshuizi 〔2003〕 No. 14). 2012, according to the National Economic Industry Classification (GB/T 4754-2011) issued by the AQSIQ and the National Standards Commission, China's Bureau of Statistics once again revised the 2003 Provisions on the Division of the Three Industries.

Primary industry: mainly refers to industries producing ingredients and some other biological materials, including planting, forestry, animal husbandry, aquaculture and other industries that directly use natural objects as production objects.

Secondary industry: mainly refers to the processing and manufacturing industry, which utilizes the basic materials provided by nature and the primary industry for processing.

Tertiary industry: refers to industries other than the primary and secondary industries, with a broader scope, mainly including transportation, communication industry, commerce, catering, finance, education industry, public **** services and other non-material production sectors.
