When zoning the functions of ecotourism areas, the following main principles are followed:

(1) Zoning is based on the degree of interference that different environmental backgrounds in the region can withstand and the principle of suitability. This principle can achieve coordination between the protection of key objects and the satisfaction of tourist needs. At present, it has been widely used in areas where nature reserves are the targets of eco-tourism development. The zoning model includes concentric circle model, three-circle layer, four-block and five-circle model.

(2) Zoning based on the principles of regional ecological environment status and different resource values. According to this zoning principle, it can be divided into development areas, scientific research areas, governance areas and monitoring areas.

(3) Zoning is based on the principle of the vegetation landscape characteristics in the area and the different moods it can impart. Different vegetation landscapes can give tourists different emotions of ecological return, such as getting close to nature and returning to nature.
