The relationship between civilized drama and drama

Although the civilized drama declined, it also prepared the conditions for the birth of the May 4th new drama. Later, in 1928, at the suggestion of Hong Shen, a famous dramatist, the drama style that mainly expresses ideas through dialogue and action expressions was named "drama". Since then, this kind of drama introduced to China from the west has a recognized official name.

At first, China's plays had different names, such as new plays and civilized plays. It was not until 1928 that the name "drama" was formally fixed, which was put forward by the dramatist Hong Shen and unanimously agreed by all the colleagues in the drama industry. Drama was originally a variety of western drama. Compared with the Chinese opera with a long history, it should be regarded as a rising star. It is an art form with modern characteristics consciously introduced by people with lofty ideals in China to realize the modernization of national spirit after the decline of feudal society in China and the bombing of the Qing Dynasty by western powers.
