The season and time of peach blossom
The flowering period of peach blossoms depends largely on the temperature of the environment. In early spring, if the average temperature keeps above 10℃ for several days, the peach blossom buds will begin to bloom. If the temperature rises to about 15℃, all the peach blossoms will bloom, which is also the best time for peach blossoms to bloom, which lasts about 15 days. If the temperature during flowering continues to rise, the flowering period will be shortened, sometimes to about a week.
According to the specific month, according to the usual situation, peach blossoms begin to bloom around 10 every year, and the weather gradually gets warmer in mid-March, and peach blossoms enter the full bloom stage. After entering the end of March, the general weather will pick up, and the flowers will begin to fade slowly and enter the flower-sparing period.
Peach blossoms are usually solitary, with leaves after opening, extremely short or almost sessile pedicels, bell-shaped calyx tube, pubescent, hairless, green with red spots, elliptic to oblong sepals, obtuse at the top, externally pubescent, petals oblong to broadly obovate, pink, rarely white, crimson anthers, styles almost as long as stamens or slightly shorter, and ovaries pubescent. Generally speaking, peach blossoms bloom in early spring, and the flowering period is about March-April.
Peach likes light and requires good ventilation; Good drainage and drought resistance; Fear of waterlogging, such as waterlogging for 3 ~ 5 days, light leaves, heavy death. Cold-tolerant, East China and North China can generally overwinter in the open air.
Peach blossom should be light loam, and the moisture should be kept semi-humid. Not tolerant of alkaline soil, not liking the soil being too sticky, not choosing fertilizer, and other ecological habits are roughly similar to plum blossoms. However, the growth potential and branching ability are stronger than that of plum blossom, but it can't last long, and it begins to decline from about 20 years old.
Generally, the tree age can reach 20 ~ 40 years. Peach trees begin to blossom and bear fruit very early, usually 1 ~ 2 years after the grafted seedlings are planted, and begin to blossom and bear fruit in 3 ~ 5 years. It grows rapidly, and can grow secondary buds 2-4 times a year. Developed roots, especially fibrous roots; Transplanting is easy to survive. Each node has 1 ~ 3 flower buds, almost sessile. Flowers and leaves germinate at the same time, and the leaves grow into full shapes after flowering.
Most peach varieties take long fruit branches as the main part of flowering and fruiting, but a few varieties, such as "Shouxing Peach", mostly blossom and bear fruit on short fruit branches and middle fruit branches. East China and Central China bloom more in the middle and late March, and the fruit ripens in June-September.
