How are tents built in Jiuzhaigou pastoral area?

In Jiuzhaigou pastoral area, people generally use ox hair tents as housing. Tibetans first spun yarn from cattle wool, woven it into thick ropes, and then sewed it into a rectangular tent. Wooden poles were supported in the tent, and the outside was fastened with wool ropes and nailed to the surrounding ground. The surrounding walls were made of grass cakes or dung cakes, and the door was opened at the same time.

During the day, herders spread tent cloth on both sides to facilitate people to go in and out. At night, they put it down and tie it with belts. Near the center of the door, the stone-supported pot is a stove. There is a long seam at the top of the tent, and a small hook is arranged along the seam to facilitate ventilation and opening and closing.

Although this tent is simple, it is thick in texture, and it is not afraid of wind and rain, snow and freezing, and it is also convenient for herders to move at any time. Now, some settlements are gradually built in pastoral areas as winter housing and places where the elderly and children live for a long time. Settlements are mostly civil structures, and their forms are similar to those in agricultural areas.
