Although the styles of Hanfu are various and complicated, there are dresses, uniforms and special clothes, but after careful analysis and classification, they are mainly divided into three categories according to their overall structure, namely, the "deep clothing" system (the upper and lower skirts are stitched together), the "upper and lower skirts are separated" system and the "long skirt" system (short clothes). The crown dress under the coat is the most solemn dress of emperors and officials, the robe (that is, the deep dress) is the official dress of officials and scholars, and the skirt is the official dress of women.

There are three stresses in traditional deep clothes. One is "horizontal collar and right slit", where the front of the clothes intersects left and right, and Hanfu covers it to the right. The second is "praising clothes and wide sleeves". Hanfu clothes are loose, with wide sleeves and longer arms. The third type is "lace-up hidden button". Most clothes in Hanfu are tied with ropes, not buttons.

There are about nine basic styles of Hanfu. Under the basic styles, hundreds of styles are deduced because of the different changes in neckline, sleeve type, waistline and cutting method.

Big sleeve: This one belongs to the middle and late Tang Dynasty, with obvious characteristics. Sleeves are very wide, often reaching more than four feet. This one in the picture is a noble costume at that time, usually on important occasions, so this Hanfu is also called "Hua Chai Da Sleeve".

Chest-length government skirt: this is a unique name for women's government skirts in Sui, Tang and Five Dynasties. They tied the blessing skirt very high, generally exceeding the chest, so they got the name.

Song Trousers: Women's Wear in Song Dynasty. In Song Dynasty, women mainly wore skirts, but they also had pants. In ancient times, not everyone had to wear skirts, but some people also wore pants.

Horse face skirt: This is a kind of Hanfu. There are four skirt doors in front and back, which overlap each other, with both sides folded, and the middle skirt door overlaps to form a glossy surface, commonly known as "horse face".

Dress: This is the general term for women wearing coats and skirts in ancient China.

Cross-neck skirt: Cross-neck skirt is a common dress in Hanfu, and it is also one of them.
