Seki Kanjo's Swordsmith Seki

Born in 1925, Seki is a renowned contemporary sword maker who inherited the traditional satin sword technique from the Kamakura period. He was forced by the Japanese militarists to produce war knives during World War II, and after the war, he worked at the Central Japan Jockey Club making special knives for hoof-mounted drivers. His original seven-layer soft Chin and Anlai steel to make the so-called Mino heirloom of modern Japanese knives, traditional and modern style both, a very noble sense.
