Taoism is the carrier of China culture. Does the decline of Taoism now mean the gradual decline of traditional culture in China?

You can't say that. The traditional culture of China is Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism, with Confucianism as the main culture and Taoism as the supplement. The ancients said, "Red flowers, white lotus roots and green lotus leaves, three religions are a family".

As far as I know, because I have three years of experience in helping to build Taoist temples, I often communicate with Taoist priests. To sum up, there are several reasons:

1, Taoist "pure inaction" thought. Taoism emphasizes the spirit of "purity and inaction", which makes Taoists proud of themselves, ignores the secular world, and has no call and sense of responsibility to "revitalize Taoism", making missionaries scarce;

2. The guiding ideology of Taoism determines that the organization of Taoism is not strong, which also leads to no good organization and no good team. Even places where Taoism has been passed down for thousands of years (such as Wudang Mountain and Longhu Mountain) are sparsely populated and have no climate.

3. Taoism lacks leading figures. This leading figure is not only profound in Taoism, strong in appeal, but also attractive in "circle powder"; Counting Buddhism, there are many talented people, but Taoism is very few, which makes people feel sad.

4. The discipline of Taoism is not strong, and the requirements are not strict. Under the banner of Taoism, the fake Taoist or abduction phenomenon is recognized, and the self-discipline is not strict. For example, Quanzhen religion is not like Quanzhen religion, and the orthodox school has undoubtedly been a charlatan. Buddhism, on the other hand, emphasizes "taking precepts as teachers", and there are many eminent monks in the world. Although there are many fake monks, Buddhism has always maintained and guaranteed its legal status.

5. The backbone of Taoism is not enough, and it has not taken the initiative to occupy the position. By 20 14, there will be more than 8,000 Taoist temples and more than 50,000 Taoist priests in China. Compared with the same period last year, there are more than 35,000 Buddhist temples and more than 400,000 monks.

6. Not enough to cooperate with the government, but become "hostages" kidnapped by enterprises, tourism institutions and other groups, and even "professional Taoist priests" monopolize Taoist temples.
