How to treat multiple myeloma?
Multiple myeloma is a malignant tumor disease of blood system, and its main treatment is systemic chemotherapy. Patients with asymptomatic or progressive myeloma, such as smog myeloma, that is, the number of tumor cells and M protein in bone marrow have reached the diagnostic criteria of myeloma, but there are no clinical manifestations such as osteolytic damage, anemia, renal failure and hypercalcemia or inert myeloma, which can be observed without treatment.
But if the disease progresses, or patients with symptoms need treatment. The main drugs for treatment are systemic chemotherapy.
At present, the chemotherapy regimen containing bortezomib is the best treatment regimen. In addition, zoledronic acid or radionuclide internal irradiation can be used to treat bone destruction. After chemotherapy relieves symptoms, some patients can undergo autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation with good results. The curative effect has nothing to do with age and sex. Under normal circumstances, some patients need hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.
