What does China's traditional thinking tend to be?
The most striking feature of China's traditional way of thinking is his emphasis on overall unity. Starting from the principle of wholeness, it emphasizes the interrelation and integral function of things, so as to achieve the harmonious unity of heaven, earth, people and things, that is, it pays attention to "the unity of heaven and man" and "the unity of heaven and man" without paying much attention to the internal structure of things. This way of thinking regards heaven and people, nature and people as an organic whole, which enables people to descend everything and ascend to heaven, and make use of it through their own actions, so that people can grasp the object as a whole. This unique way of thinking is of great significance for maintaining human ecological balance and promoting social harmony and stability.
The holistic thinking mode of China's traditional thinking determines that experience is regarded as a main way of understanding noumenon higher than rational speculation. Essentially, it is an intuitive thinking. The characteristic of this kind of thinking is that it does not need logical forms such as concepts, judgments and reasoning, and it does not need to analyze external things or accumulate experience. But completely rely on subjective cognition and inner experience to grasp the essence of things in an instant. Laozi's "dispelling doubts", Zhuangzi's "seeing independence clearly", Mencius's "being conscious and knowledgeable", even Buddhism's "epiphany" and later Zhu Cheng's "learning from things" and Lu Wang's "seeking truth from the heart" all have the characteristics of intuitive thinking. The essence and law of intuitive thinking is the high unity of knowledge, emotion and meaning, and it is understanding and meaning.
The advantages of China's traditional thinking are: it can effectively break through the stylization of cognition, provide flexible imagination space for thinking, and have a positive impact on the development of humanities such as ethics, aesthetics, literature and art.
Disadvantages of China's traditional thinking: this way of thinking, which emphasizes inspiration over logic, experience over speculation and intuition over argument, easily leads to fuzziness and inaccuracy of thinking, which is not conducive to the development of formalization and quantification of thinking, hinders the development of natural science and easily leads to empiricism and dogmatism.
