Is carbon fiber an inorganic nonmetallic material?
Carbon fiber is a new inorganic nonmetallic material. Inorganic nonmetallic materials are materials composed of oxides, carbides, nitrides, halogen compounds, borides, silicates, aluminates, phosphates, borates and other substances. It is the general name of all materials except organic polymer materials and metal materials.
After the 1940s, with the development of modern science and technology, the formula of inorganic nonmetallic materials evolved from the traditional silicate materials. Inorganic nonmetallic materials are one of the three major materials alongside organic polymer materials and metal materials. Carbon filler dimension is a kind of high strength and high modulus fiber with carbon content above 90%.
Use of carbon fiber
The purpose of carbon fiber is mainly to manufacture high-tech equipment such as aerospace and advanced composite materials. Carbon fiber refers to high strength and high modulus fiber with carbon content above 90%, ranking first among all chemical fibers in high temperature resistance. Acrylic fiber and viscose fiber are used as raw materials, which are oxidized and carbonized at high temperature. It has the characteristics of high temperature resistance, friction resistance, electrical conductivity, thermal conductivity and corrosion resistance.
Carbon fiber is a special fiber composed of carbon elements, which is fibrous and soft in appearance and can be processed into various fabrics. Because its graphite microcrystal structure is preferentially oriented along the fiber axis, it has high strength and modulus along the fiber axis.
