China's Views on English in Traditional Chinese Opera

Beijing Opera (Peking Opera)

Yue Opera Yue Opera (Yue Opera)

Sichuan Opera (Sichuan Opera)

Bangzi opera

The following are objections to this kind of translation:

Peking Opera is the national drama of China, and it is one of the unique artistic types in China, which can best represent the characteristics of China culture. It has an inexhaustible national cultural heritage. However, the English translation of Beijing Opera can't just give people a sense of orientation or geographical concept. All the essence, charm and unique cultural characteristics of Beijing Opera are covered up by an extremely special western noun!

Not only that, we can see that some local operas have also been translated into English, and put on the foreign hats of operas, such as Yue Opera, Yue Opera, Hubei Opera, Jin Opera, Sichuan Opera, Chu Opera and Qin Opera. Their shortcomings are basically the same as the English translation of Peking Opera.

Moreover, with so many operas, it is inevitable for westerners to feel confused and puzzled, which is obviously not conducive to foreigners to understand the unique cultural characteristics of China operas. Therefore, it is necessary to remove the "foreign hat" worn by Peking Opera and many local operas in China and give them accurate translation.
