IP network and fiber optic communication technology
On the other hand, with the growing maturity and practicality of WDM and DWDM technologies, the ultra-large capacity of fiber optic transmission makes the broadband network a reality, which plays a decisive role in increasing the transmission capacity of IP networks and improving the practicality of network services. In this paper, we try to make a brief analysis of some of the problems of IP networks and fiber optic communications technology and their mutual influence.
1, IP technology
A few years ago, people are still exploring the traditional circuit-switching-based Integrated Services Delivery Network (ISDN) on the possibility of multimedia transmission, and for the realization of the complexity of the concern. With the advent and development of IP technology, this has been made simple from complex.
IP is a network layer protocol that has nothing to do with the underlying physical network that supports it. The networks formed based on the IP protocol are collectively referred to as IP networks, and the various application services supported by such networks are collectively referred to as IP services, and the technology that realizes these services is IP technology. the most appealing feature of IP technology is that it can connect all the systems together, and almost any combination of computer hardware and operating systems has the capability to be used in IP networks. The most attractive feature of IP technology is that it can connect all systems together, and almost any combination of computer hardware and operating system has a driver for IP network protocols. this wide range of physical network adaptability of IP technology; as well as the various computer and network equipment manufacturers are IP support features, making the geographical scope of the IP business and the application of the business field is very wide.
The IP addressable communication network is based on the TCP/IP protocol. the IP protocol and the TCP protocol are a pair of important protocols in the network. At the same time, in order to ensure that real-time services in the IP network to run well, but also need to use the real-time transport protocol (RTP) and real-time transport control protocol (RTCP). Resource Reservation Protocol (RSVP) is also used in order to provide a wide enough channel for real-time services or other specific services. These five communication protocols are the main communication protocols of the IP network and are the communication foundation of the IP network, and all the services of the IP network are basically built on the basis of these communication protocols.
Since the mid-1990s, IP technology as the core of the data network has been unprecedented development, the future of the "triple play" will undoubtedly be constructed on the basis of IP technology. Therefore, the IP network has become the focus of attention of the IT industry in various countries, and China's IP network has also taken shape. Currently, the widely used IP protocol is IPV4. However, with the almost exponential growth of the Internet, the address space of IPV4 is in danger of running out. This is especially true in countries such as China and Japan, which require a large number of IP addresses but do not have enough of them. Therefore, a solution has been proposed to transition from IPV4 to IPV6, which utilizes a 128-bit address space and is a long-term solution for a reliable, manageable, secure and efficient IP network. While the day of IPV6's practical application will have to wait patiently, it is foreseeable that IP networks will be more widely used after overcoming this major drawback.
IP technology has evolved to a mature commercial stage, which requires network developers to constantly look for low cost and better value for money. Obviously, the rapid development of fiber-optic communications to a large extent to meet the ever-increasing bandwidth requirements for the realization of IP provides the possibility. It can be said that fiber optic communication technology is the foundation and development direction of modern IP communications.
2, fiber optic communication technology
Fiber optic communication technology is a communication technology that transmits information through optical fibers. In the sender, the information is converted and processed into an easy to transmit electrical signals, electrical signals to control a light source, so that the light signals sent out with the characteristics of the signals to be transmitted, so as to achieve the signal of the electric-optical conversion, the sender sends out optical signals through the optical fiber transmission to the remote end of the receiver, through the photodiode, etc. converted into electrical signals, so as to achieve the signal of the optical-electrical conversion. The signal is converted into electrical signal by photodiode, thus realizing the optical-electrical conversion of the signal. The electrical signal is then processed and converted to restore the same information as the original sender.
Now with long wavelength light source and single mode fiber as the symbol of the second generation of fiber optic communications technology has also matured, no relay communication distance of about 30 kilometers, the communication capacity of about 5000 road, suitable for long-distance trunk communications. All-optical and optically integrated fiber-optic communication technologies are under research. All-optical means that the optical signal is directly amplified in the repeater, eliminating the optical-electrical conversion and the electrical-optical conversion process. All-optical optical integration function greatly reduces the volume of the repeater and the optical terminal, reduces power consumption and cost, and improves reliability.
Although the loss of optical transmission is very small, it is still unavoidable. Due to material absorption, waveguide scattering, material scattering, leakage mode and other reasons, it will cause signal attenuation. We need optical amplifier to amplify and integrate the signal. Fiber optic amplifiers are generally composed of gain medium, pump light and input-output coupling structure. Currently commonly used fiber optic amplifiers are mainly erbium-doped fiber amplifiers, semiconductor optical amplifiers and fiber Raman amplifiers.
The future of fiber optic communications will evolve to ultra-high-speed systems, ultra-high-capacity WDM systems, and the realization of optical networking is a strategic direction for the development of the entire fiber optic communications. We look forward to the realization of these new technologies to promote the development of the entire information industry.
3, IP technology and optical information technology is inseparable
IP technology has changed our world, and it relies on fiber optic communications technology is all of our bandwidth dreams into reality. With the deepening of scientific research, they will be more closely combined, such as the future to realize the optical interconnection, all-optical network technology. IP technology and optical information technology is inseparable, they promote each other, and become the cornerstone of the support of the communications summer.
