Find out how powerful Chinese martial arts swordsmanship was in history
Li Yaochen (1876-1973) was a native of Jixian County, Hebei Province. He was born in the second year of Guangxu (1876).
He studied taijiquan with a teacher at a young age, and at the age of 14, he went to Beijing to earn a living, and four years later, he joined the Huiyou Dart Bureau. At that time, there were eight major dart boards in Beijing, and Huiyou had the longest history and the most famous reputation. After joining the dart board, he studied the 18 kinds of weapons and kung fu on the water, on the car and on the horse, and at the same time, he also practiced leaping over the ridge, flying over the wall and darts and concealed weapons.
The risky life of dart walking made his kung fu more and more comprehensive and exquisite. As a result, Yang Xiaolou, a Peking Opera martial arts master at that time, asked him to teach him Monkeyish Fist for the performance of "An Tianhui" (i.e., making trouble in the Heavenly Palace), and Mei Lanfang, a master of Peking Opera, asked him to learn swordplay for the performance of "Farewell My Concubine".
Li Yaochen worked at the Huiyou Dart Bureau for 27 years, and in 1921, the bureau, which had operated for 300 years, was dissolved. In 1921, when it was disbanded after 300 years of operation, Li opened a "Wushu Tea House" in Tianqiao's Shuiqin Pavilion, where he continued to advocate martial arts.

The 29th Army's "Wuji Dao" style was created by Li Yao-chen. The 29th Army had many different styles of swordsmanship, but the "Wuji Dao" style was created by Li Yao-chen.
As soon as he took office in 1931, Li Yaochen combined the characteristics of the sword used by the 29th Army with the traditional Chinese six-pronged sword technique to create a set of unique 29th Army "Wuji Knife" sword techniques. This knife method reinforces the idea that the knife is a sword, which can be split; the knife is also a sword, which can be stabbed.
After a period of time, Li Yaochen believed that the 29th Army should be drawn backbone, specialized in the formation of the Great Sword Team, which will directly teach the "Wuji Knife" knife, and then passed on to the whole army by the officers and soldiers. This idea was greatly affirmed by Tong Linge, and eventually implemented. A few months later, the Great Sword Squad began to pass on the practiced "Wuji Dao" technique to all officers and soldiers.
The 29th Army Great Sword Team assembled
The 29th Army used the "Wuji Knife" is carefully designed: its length is similar to the sword, about 1 meter long; the surface of the knife is not as wide as the traditional machete, but slightly wider than the hilt of the sword; the traditional knife is one side of the open edge, the head of the Wuji Knife is two sides of the open edge, close to the handle of the place is one side of the open edge; the traditional knife is one side of the open edge, the head of the knife is two sides of the open edge, close to the handle of the knife. In order to facilitate the soldiers to use easy force, the handle of the Wuji knife is 8 inches to a foot long, so that both hands can hold the knife at the same time and cut at each other.
"Wuji knife" knife method is: out of the knife body down the mouth of the knife toward themselves, a knife up, the back of the knife knocked away the rifle, while the blade forward arc, just cut the opponent's neck. Because chopping, chopping is an action, the opponent can not return to the defense on the trick.
The 29th Army's Great Sword Squad gave the Japanese a headache, and for this reason, they saw a move to equip each soldier with an iron scarf. Just in the battle of Fengtai, the Chinese army was surprised to find that all the Japanese soldiers were all wearing iron scarves. However, the heavy iron scarf greatly weakened the fighting agility of the devils, and the casualties were even heavier.
During the Battle of Xifengkou, the 29th Army's Big Sword Squad repeatedly charged and attacked enemy camps at night, killing hundreds of Japanese devils, and Li Yaochen and his "Wuji Knife" knifework became famous in all directions.
