A short story about revolutionary education
1."Commander Niu"
When Mao Zedong was a boy and herding cattle with his companions, he often played on the hillside. Once he was playing, he often missed herding the cattle. Either the cattle were not full when the time came, or the cattle ran into other people's fields to gnaw crops. How can we ensure that the cattle are herded and everyone has a good time? Mao Zedong discussed a solution with everyone. He organized his companions into three groups: one group looked after the cattle to prevent them from eating the crops; one group cut the grass; and one group went to pick wild fruits. Every day we work in shifts, one day we look after the cattle, tomorrow we mow the grass, and the day after tomorrow we go pick wild fruits. In this way, everyone has his or her own work.
When it was almost noon, everyone returned to the original gathering place. The children who looked after the cows made the cows eat round and round; the children who cut the grass filled a large basket; the children who gathered wild fruits brought back large piles of delicious wild fruits from the mountains...this At that time, Mao Zedong brought grass and fruits and distributed them to everyone reasonably. Sometimes if it wasn't enough, he would give it a little less. If there was any remaining grass, he would tie it with a rope and hang it on a branch. Whoever could jump up and grab it would get it. With Mao Zedong, you can not only herd cows well, but also have fun. Therefore, friends are happy to herd cows with Mao Zedong and call him "Cow Commander".
2.Zhu De’s carrying pole
In 1928, Comrade Zhu De led a Red Army team to Jinggangshan to join Chairman Mao. The Red Army is on the mountain, and the enemy is not far below the mountain. Jinggang Mountain does not produce much food, so some people often have to go to Maoping at the foot of the mountain to pick up food. It is fifty or sixty miles from Jinggang Mountain to Maoping. The mountain is high and the road is steep, making it very difficult to walk. But every time we pick up food, everyone rushes to get there. Comrade Zhu De also went to pick up food with the soldiers. Wearing straw sandals and a bamboo hat, he picked up a full load of grain and climbed the mountain with everyone. During the day, he carried food, and at night he often studied how to fight the enemy all night long. Everyone felt distressed and hid his pole. Unexpectedly, Comrade Zhu De found another carrying pole and wrote "Zhu De is not allowed to take the carrying pole indiscriminately". After everyone saw him, they respected and loved Comrade Zhu De more and more, and were embarrassed to hide his carrying pole anymore.
3. Haiwa, the leader of the Children’s League
The story of this little anti-Japanese hero happened in the anti-Japanese base area in North China. Haiwa, the head of the Longmen Village Children's Corps aged 12, herds sheep and watches every day, monitoring the enemy's stronghold in Pingchuan ahead. One day, the Japanese in the artillery tower went into the mountains to grab food, and only "Commander Maoyan" and a few Japanese soldiers were left. Zhao, the elder of the militia squadron, drew a route map for attacking the artillery tower and wrote a letter to hand it to the Eighth Route Army Company Commander Zhang. Lao Zhao handed over the task of delivering letters to his son Haiwa. Haiwa saw the chicken feathers on the envelope and knew that it was very important. He drove a group of sheep as a cover to deliver the letter. Unexpectedly, Haiwa met the Japs in the ravine. He had an idea and tied the chicken feather letter in the tail of the "Old Man Sheep", hiding it from the Japs squad leader. Haiwa was tortured along the way. Late at night, Haiwa finally slipped out from between the legs of the Japanese who slept like a dead pig. He rushed to the sheepfold, carefully took down the chicken feather letter, and ran several miles in one breath. The puppet troops also came after them, and Haiwa was captured by them again. He took the Japs to a mountain road. The Japs' mules and horses could not climb the steep hillside. Haiwa took the opportunity to climb up the mountain desperately, climbing farther and farther. The Japs shot Haiwa in the hand. Haiwa endured the pain and shouted "Uncle Eighth Route Army..." Haiwa handed the chicken-feathered letter to Captain Zhang.
