What are the correct physical methods to reduce fever?

Cold application

Specific methods: apply a cold towel to your forehead, soak the towel in cold water after it gets hot, and then reapply it. You can also use a cold water bag or an ice bag to apply it, which is better than applying a cold towel to your forehead. Fill the hot water bottle with cold water or ice cubes, cover it with a cloth and put it under your head. You can put a small ice pack at the root of your armpit.

Note: When using the cold compress method, check whether the ice bag leaks, and change the cold water in the bag regularly during the process.

Take a hot bath.

If you are in a good mood when you have a fever, washing warm water will help cool down.

Note: Pay attention to the water temperature, which should be adjusted to 27 ~ 37 degrees Celsius. Because the water temperature is too high, it will cause systemic vasodilation and increase oxygen consumption, which will easily lead to ischemia and hypoxia and aggravate the condition; If the water temperature is too low, it may be aggravated by catching cold.

5% alcohol bath

Alcohol can dilate blood vessels and take away a lot of heat when it evaporates. When babies have a fever, alcohol can help them cool down.

Specific method: prepare 100 ml of 75% alcohol, add warm water to the same amount, and keep the temperature at about 27 ~ 37 degrees Celsius. It can't be too cold, otherwise it will cause muscle contraction and make the heat rise again. When bathing with alcohol, use a small towel to start from the baby's neck, from top to bottom, in the form of a pat, and wipe the armpits, groin and places rich in blood vessels until the skin is slightly red, which is conducive to cooling down.

Hot water soaking feet

Soaking feet can promote blood circulation, relieve discomfort and help to cool down.

Specific methods: Foot bath can be carried out in a footbath or a small bucket, and 2/3 pots of water can be poured in. The water temperature is slightly higher than usual, and the temperature is about 40 degrees Celsius, taking adaptability as the standard. When soaking feet, the mother caresses the baby's two little feet, which can not only dilate blood vessels, but also reduce the discomfort caused by fever.
