Chaoshan traditional architecture

In Guangdong, Chaoshan area is an urban agglomeration with a long history and profound cultural heritage. Including Shantou, Chaozhou, Jieyang and other important cities in eastern Guangdong, have their own unique language, culture and diet. It has rich and colorful humanistic customs and folk culture, and contains many little-known historical sites and time stories. This is a tourist destination worthy of careful exploration.

In the west of the Chaoshan Plain and the south of the east of Guangdong Province, there is a cultural hometown called "the Pearl of Chaoshan", which has nurtured many celebrities in history and now retains many folk arts and traditional cultures handed down from generation to generation. It is famous for its combination of landscape and folk culture, and it has also been selected as one of the top 200 "charming cities with China characteristics", which is Puning City under the jurisdiction of Jieyang.

Puning, as an emerging city with economic development in the southeast coast of China, has made remarkable achievements in industrial development in recent years. At present, it is not only the largest shirt production base in China, the largest Chinese herbal medicine sales base in South China, but also the largest distribution center for clothing, tobacco, tea, fruits and textiles in East Guangdong, and the famous hometown of overseas Chinese in China. I have been to many places in Guangdong, and Puning in Jieyang is one of the places I have never been but I really want to go.

I finally came to Puning this time and found a very interesting place, which is very worth recommending. This is De 'anli, located in Nancun, Hongyang Town, Puning Old Town. This little-known ancient village was a family residence built by Fang Yao, the governor of Guangdong Navy, and his brother in the late Qing Dynasty. It is also the largest and best-preserved large-scale luxury residential group in Chaoshan area.

De 'anli has a long history, which was founded in Tongzhi Decade (A.D. 187 1) and has a history of 150 years. Because it is a family residence, the whole complex took 20 years to build. With its huge scale, exquisite architecture and exquisite modeling, it can be called a wonderful work of residential buildings in southern China. Even after 150 years of wind and rain baptism, it is still extraordinary and charming.

I have always been interested in ancient buildings. I didn't know anything about De 'anli before, but it gave me infinite surprises. Because this ancient architectural complex still retains its old appearance, not only its appearance is simple and natural, but also its layout and decoration are basically unchanged, so it has a sense of time and taste, and every detail is worth savoring.

Dean Li has made great achievements in architectural art. With its rare architectural layout and unique design style, De 'anli was selected as the textbook of civil architecture in the Department of Architecture, South China University of Technology, Guangdong Province. At the same time, the architectural forms here are rich and well preserved. You can see rare architectural forms such as bungalow, quarter gold, phoenix tree, shanglugen and one-legged lion here, which is known as "the complete collection of architectural forms of Chaoshan dwellings" and is called Lingnan Architectural Decoration Art Museum.

The De 'anli complex covers an area of nearly 60,000 square meters with a building area of 32,000 square meters, which is divided into four areas: Laozhai, Zhongzhai, Xinde 'anli and Lombardi. Among them, the architectural pattern of Laozhai is "birds fly towards the phoenix", Zhongzhai and Xinde 'anli are "four-horse trailers", and the three villages are connected, with as many as 773 houses. The Waizhazhai River is a rare large-scale luxury building complex in Guangdong and even the whole country.

The old village in De 'anli is a model of architecture even among many amazing Chaoshan traditional houses. Its most commendable is the extremely rare architectural pattern of "a hundred birds facing the phoenix", in which "phoenix" is the main ancestral hall, with small ancestral halls on the left and right, followed by buildings such as "Wu Jianguo", "Da Shang Lu Gen" and "Si Fen Jin", which guard the big ancestral hall from three sides.

The layout of rooms in the village is divided into official hall, ancestral hall, Buddhist temple, study, dining room, storage room and attic. There are solid walls and thick roof tiles. The master's distinguished family background and family glory are obvious, and the architectural structure with the Grand Ancestral Hall as the core is also in line with the traditional ethics of China, which is "the ancestral hall is the first to govern the palace and the patriarchal clan system is distinct".

De 'anli has a registered population of 500, and there are still more than 100 people living there, mainly in Laozhai and Zhongzhai. However, many houses have long been deserted. Walking on the bluestone road more than 100 years ago, there are mixed flavors, smooth slate on the ground and empty birdcages under the eaves, as if telling the glory of the past and the life of the past. The magnificent architectural style and the ubiquitous historical imprint here are shocking and touching.

Long streets, deep alleys, scarlet doors and hard walls, strolling in De 'anli, time seems to have returned to the Qing Dynasty. Facing the halls and pavilions, the wooden pillars on the eaves, and the exquisite doors and windows carved with gold paint, it has been a Millennium for a while. An ancient well and an ancient tree have witnessed the vicissitudes of the years and made people linger for a long time.

It is particularly worth mentioning that there are two famous protectors at the gate of the ancestral hall of the old stockaded village master: Qin and Weichi Gong. This kind of door god painting is a folk art and craft handed down from Chaoshan area. It adopts traditional lacquer painting techniques and uses natural lacquer as the main material for painting creation. Now this craft is gradually lost, but it is still well preserved in De 'anli.

However, due to the lack of popularity, De 'anli is slightly desolate, and some corners are overgrown with weeds. Fortunately, in recent years, De 'anli has undergone a major transformation, and it has been rated as a cultural relic protection unit in Guangdong Province, selected into the first batch of "27 ancient villages in Guangdong Province", and was also rated as a national 3A-level tourist scenic spot on 20 10, attracting foreign tourists for the old stockade.
