What is a novel about letting a green snake bite in a watermelon field
The Green Snake is a middle grade novel written by author Li Bihua and first published in 1986. The novel tells the story of Green Snake, who, after experiencing the vicissitudes of the world and its warmth and coldness, finally breaks through life by virtue of her own experiences and reflections on the world of the red dust and the world for thousands of years. Li Bihua uses sharp strokes to show the humility and paranoia of women caught in love, maps and analyzes women's concept of love through the psychology of the two snakes, and reflects on the tragedy of traditional women's destiny by depicting their loss and awakening in the midst of lust.
The Green Snake subverts the traditional folklore of love, breaking the illusion of the White Snake and Xu Xian's respect for each other and their love for each other, and revealing Xu Xian's despicable greed and selfishness through the Green Snake's meddling in the story, as well as the tragedy brought about by a woman's loss of self and her fall into paranoia and insanity in love. The novel focuses on scrutinizing and criticizing the inferiority that exists in each character - the two snakes, Green and White, become humble for love and even give up their sisterhood because of a man, hold grudges against each other, and are at loggerheads; Xu Xian is a downright despicable villain, who is not only weak, greedy, hypocritical and cunning, but is also selfish, ungrateful and ungrateful. These three people desire intertwined, love and hate entanglement, staged a farce of collusion.
