E-commerce is an undergraduate major in colleges and universities, which belongs to e-commerce major. This major trains application-oriented and compound talents with knowledge of management, economy, law, computer and e-commerce, humanistic spirit, scientific literacy and honesty consciousness, who can engage in website design, website construction and maintenance, marketing planning of enterprise goods and services, customer relationship management, e-commerce project management and e-commerce activity planning and operation in enterprises and institutions.

E-commerce in China can begin with the application of EDI in the early 1990s. The "Three Gold Projects" launched by 1993- 1997 laid the foundation for the development of e-commerce, and the development stage based on the Internet began at 1998. With the deepening of e-commerce in China's economic activities, more and more industries have joined the practice of e-commerce.

At the same time, the power industry has also made some attempts and practices in e-commerce. Following the market-oriented reform of China's power industry in 2002, the State Power Company, as the leader of the power industry, put forward in the Tenth Five-Year Plan: "Relying on scientific and technological progress, doing a good job in power informatization and promoting the modernization process of power enterprises", which opened the curtain of power informatization and the application of e-commerce in the power industry gradually emerged.

With the rapid development of e-commerce and the rising demand for e-commerce talents, e-commerce education in colleges and universities has been carried out one after another. The initial tentative education mostly takes the form of public elective courses and professional elective courses, and a few schools offer e-commerce courses or e-commerce classes in senior undergraduate students.
