Where are the Yao people in Vietnam?
With a population of 470,000, the Yao people mainly live in the border provinces between Vietnam and China, and between Vietnam and Laos. Scholars believe that the Yao nationality living in Viet Nam originated in China. Yao people have the custom of offering sacrifices to King Pan. The legendary "Pan Hu" is the embodiment of a god dog and is considered as the ancestor of Yao people. Yao men and women like to wear ornaments, and their folk cultural life is rich. On major festivals, they will sing their own songs and dance their own dances. The dance of Yao nationality in Vietnam is closely related to hunting, farming and sacrifice.
