Song Xiping

Song Xiping, female, is the representative inheritor of Chengdu Lacquer Art, the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage projects, and the top-level and representative figure of Chengdu Lacquer Ware production. Since 1978, her works have won many prizes in national arts and crafts exhibitions, fairs and competitions, and have been presented to international friends and officials as government gifts.

Song Xiping, female, the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage project Chengdu Lacquer Art Representative Inheritor, Sichuan Provincial Crafts and Arts Masters, the top ten Sichuan Provincial Folk Artists, China Creates Folk Culture Brand Artists, China Arts and Crafts Society Lacquer Art Professional Committee Member.

Born in October 1951, he entered Chengdu Lacquerware Factory in 1972 and studied under Chengdu Lacquerware Master Chen Chun and the old masters, and has been practicing for forty years. He is good at carving and filling color and carving tin silk light techniques, and has a solid carving foundation, skillful use of knives, and even and smooth lines. From lacquer making, lacquer tire making, grinding, clearing and polishing to a variety of decorative techniques are proficient, the creation of nearly one hundred pieces of fine art by many collectors. He has won ten national awards, ten gold, silver and bronze awards, eleven Sichuan provincial awards and five Chengdu city awards. The lacquer painting "Wenjun Listening to Qin", "Carved Tin Carp Box", "Carved Lacquer Round Box" and other lacquer masterpieces have been collected by China Arts and Crafts Museum and the National Library of China. She has a comprehensive knowledge of every piece of Chengdu lacquerware. She has mastered every process and technique of Chengdu lacquerware, which has been highly recognized by experts and collectors. Especially, she is a master of Chengdu Lacquerware. The Song Dynasty was characterized by a series of carved lacquer dishes, such as the "Spring Garden", "Square Box with Carved Pewter Silkscreen Phoenix", and "Carved Pewter Silkscreen Vase with Tangled Lotus".

Ms. Song Xiping also founded Chengdu Zhi Yi Lacquer Masters' Workshop, with the aim of inheriting Chengdu lacquer art, the production and manufacturing processes are all based on ancient methods, the raw materials are natural lacquer, natural mineral pigments, the wood tires are made of high-grade wood such as Jinshi Nanmu, Xiangzhang and Cypress etc., and the decorative techniques include carving, inlaying, depicting, painting, piling and posting etc., among which the techniques of carving flowers and filling in the color, carving silver filigree, depicting gold and painting etc. are the most local ethnic and cultural techniques.
