On the Inheritance of Traditional Culture by the Olympic Games
People's Olympics, how to embody "humanity" in the Olympics, the newspaper published many articles and talked about many good opinions. I think the most important thing is to carry forward the traditional culture of China. At present, some people, including some intellectuals, college students, masters and doctors, and even professors, experts and scholars, do not understand the basic knowledge of some aspects of China culture, and there are blind spots that need to be removed. When some China students came to Europe, they said they were from China. People are happy to tell him that they like Lao Zi and Zhuangzi. He asked inexplicably, "Who are Laozi and Zhuangzi?" Not long ago, a statue of Confucius was erected in Germany. Why? Some people say that because he is a celebrity. What is Confucius famous for? Some people say that his greatest feature is conservatism. Do Germans like to be conservative that much? If this phenomenon happens in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, what is human nature?
In the 20th century, from the May 4th Movement to the Cultural Revolution, almost all people criticized Confucius and Confucianism. People who went to primary school in the 1950s are all around 60 now. The enlightenment education these people received was to criticize Confucius and Confucianism, and then after the great criticism, many people still retained the deep imprint of that era in their minds. Although great changes have taken place in the past 20 years, it is still difficult for some people to change their preconceived ideas. 1966 People who went to primary school during the Cultural Revolution are now over 40 years old. They are the main force of society, teachers, fathers and educators in society. If they still have many blind spots in the basic knowledge of China culture, the impact can be imagined. Some people, influenced by China culture for special reasons, gain basic common sense, while most people don't have this opportunity, but are driven by life and pursue survival and enjoyment. As for culture, it is only one aspect of hobbies. If you don't have this hobby, you can be a bystander. In a word, many people, including some intellectuals, have some blind spots on the basic knowledge of China culture, which need to be removed urgently. This is not a personal reason, but a special historical era.
At present, the activities of popularizing traditional culture in the whole country are diverse in form, vast in territory, rapid in development and in the ascendant. Children's reading activities are mainly carried out in kindergartens and primary schools, as well as specialized ethnic schools and private schools. In recent years, it has spread all over the country and developed rapidly, with more than100000 children participating in the activities. The main contents of reading are enlightening books such as Disciples' Rules and San Zi Jing. China's virtue education initiated by the central government has been widely carried out in primary and secondary schools, and a large number of extracurricular reading materials on traditional virtues have been published, among which a book, Proverbs of Traditional Virtues in China, has been published more than 6 million copies a year. On the basis of implementing the teaching plan stipulated by public schools, some private schools have added traditional culture courses to teach the basic knowledge of China culture comprehensively.
At present, there are more than 150 Confucius Institutes in the world, and primary school students in some countries (such as Japan) are reading The Analects carefully. How can college students in China not read China's traditional classics? Some college students feel that the classic "silence" is a national sorrow, and ignorance of the classic is a personal sorrow. At present, many students are eager to learn traditional national classics. In many middle schools and universities, students organize their own national societies, and invite teachers to give lectures, guide, study and discuss The Analects of Confucius and other classics, so as to express people's good wishes to carry forward China's traditional culture.
Business circles and some cultural departments hold many lectures and forums, many of which are about traditional culture. Courses and seminars focusing on senior managers of enterprises and basic knowledge of China culture have emerged in famous universities. The Jinwen Forum held by the branch of the National Library teaches a series of traditional cultures, which has been held for more than 300 times and is well received by readers. In 2007, the lecture held by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League added a series of Chinese studies. The Central Party School and the National Defense University also held lectures on Chinese studies. Many provinces, cities and counties have set up "lecture halls of Chinese studies", for example, Changle City, Fujian Province has set up more than a dozen "lecture halls of Chinese studies". Television, radio and other mass media also spread excellent traditional culture in the form of lectures and interviews. CCTV's Lecture Room invited Professor Yu Dan and others to talk about China's literature and history knowledge and experience in reading classics, which was warmly welcomed by the audience, showing the great influence of mass media and the people's high enthusiasm and demand for understanding and learning traditional culture.
In the activity of building a cultural community, Beijing Andingmen Street cooperated with Confucius Institute in China and invited experts to preach Confucianism to community residents. Tongzhou District also invited experts to talk about China traditional culture, which had a great influence; In both Shanghai and Fujian, retired professors give lectures on the Analects of Confucius for the community, or organize owners to read the Analects of Confucius, which has played a positive role in improving the atmosphere of the community, promoting harmony and enhancing cohesion.
Humanistic Olympics should carry forward the traditional culture of China. There are some obstacles in carrying forward China traditional culture, which must be removed. There are mainly the following aspects:
First, in the ideological and theoretical circles, the concept of opposition between China's traditional culture and Marxism should be corrected theoretically. It should be noted that the sinicization of Marxism and the modernization of traditional culture in China are consistent, synchronous and inseparable. It is wrong to use the guiding position of Marxism as an excuse to resist the promotion of traditional culture in China. It is also wrong to advocate China's traditional culture and oppose Marxism.
Second, in academic circles, we should straighten out the relationship between Chinese and western academics. In addition to teaching Chinese, Confucius Institutes established around the world should also be an important base for spreading China's traditional culture. Many foreigners are studying the traditional culture of China, while China people don't know much about it, and even think that there is no need to know the traditional culture of China at all. Should they be ashamed and embarrassed?
Thirdly, in schools and families, teachers and principals don't know as much about China's traditional culture as students, and parents don't know as much as children. Many primary and middle school students need teachers to explain Confucian classics, but many teachers are still quite unfamiliar with Confucian classics, so they can't guide students to learn, let alone "learn to be a teacher and run the world", and they don't know how to set an example for students in doing things. Therefore, it is suggested that normal universities strengthen the education of Chinese studies and make Chinese studies a compulsory course to meet the needs of the current situation.
Fourthly, among leading cadres at all levels, there are many policies that critically inherit and develop China's excellent tradition. Some cadres don't know enough about carrying forward excellent traditional culture and don't have a deep understanding of the central government's principles and policies, which hinders the initiative and enthusiasm of implementing policies. Therefore, improving the understanding of cadres has become an important key to implement the central government's policy of promoting excellent traditional culture. It is very necessary to give proper training to party and government cadres all over the country and let them know more about Chinese studies.
