What does a cult mean?

A cult refers to an organization that falsely uses religion. Cults are organizations that seriously disrupt social order. A cult organization refers to an illegal organization established under the guise of religion, qigong or other names, which deifies the ringleaders, confuses and deceives others, develops and controls its members, creates and spreads superstitions and heresies, and harms society.

Religious scholars have profound attainments in traditional religious culture, and most people hate and condemn the new sects with anti-traditional colors. They believe that cults are religious groups, and their beliefs are different from the orthodox beliefs considered by the public.

The main characteristics of cults

From the perspective of sociology and religion, contemporary cults are the extreme products of the new religious movement in the world. Most contemporary new religions have a strong anti-traditional religious culture color in the early stage, and then their development trajectories are different. Most schools are small in scale and limited in influence, leaving them to fend for themselves. Some schools are constantly adjusting their doctrines and canons and gradually integrating with the mainstream social value system.

Become a stable social force. Some extremist sects persist in their own way, pursue anti-social and anti-civilization doctrines, implement the totalitarian rule of their leaders, forcibly brainwash and control their followers, undermine human rights and endanger society, and become extremist cult organizations with serious criminal nature.
