Ten Famous Flowers-Camellia
Camellia is the general name of many plants and horticultural varieties of Theaceae and Camellia. Petals are bowl-shaped, divided into single petals and double petals, with rich colors. Camellia is a traditional ornamental flower in China, ranking eighth among the "Ten Famous Flowers" and one of the precious flowers and trees in the world.
Growing habits:
Camellia likes warm, humid and ventilated environment, and is not cold-resistant. It needs well-drained, loose and fertile sandy loam. The optimum growth temperature is between 20-32℃. If the temperature is above 29℃, the leaves will be anxious at 35℃.
Maintenance method:
1. Soil: Camellia needs weak acid, rich humus, loose and breathable soil. Can be mixed with red soil, sandy soil and humus soil.
2. Moisturizing: When the soil is dry, water it in time to keep the soil moist. Water frequently in spring, and spray more water to cool and moisturize in summer. Be careful not to spray on the flowers. Pay attention not to accumulate water in rainy season, and control water in flowering period.
3. Lighting: Camellia likes light, but don't directly expose it to the sun. Give it plenty of sunshine in spring and rainy season, and avoid exposure in summer and shade it properly. In winter, it should be placed in a sunny place indoors. Camellia will not grow well if there is not enough sunshine.
4. Temperature: The optimum temperature for camellia growth is 20~32℃, and the optimum temperature is spring and autumn, which is also the peak of its growth. In summer and winter, the temperature is too hot and too cold, so it is necessary to cool down and keep warm. It can bloom better if it is controlled above 5C in winter.
5. Fertilization: When putting or changing pots, apply sufficient base fertilizer at the bottom of pots. In autumn and winter, due to the rapid development of flower buds, decomposed light liquid fertilizer should be poured once a week, followed by topdressing 1 to 2 times of phosphorus and potassium fertilizer. After germination in spring, apply 1 times thin fertilizer water every 17 days.
