Jingxinzhai: Why did Liang Sicheng say that it has to be the one with exquisite and elegant decoration?

When talking about Beihai Park, what everyone can think of must be the sight of the rippling blue waters of Taiye Pond and the towering white tower on Qiongdao Island, right?

In fact, there are many well-known buildings on the north bank of Beihai Park, such as Nine Dragon Wall, Xiao Xitian, Chanfu Temple, Kuai Xuetang, etc. However, the famous architect Liang Sicheng said: "Among the units on the north bank of Beihai, the most exquisite and elegant ones are like Jingqingzhai."

Jingqingzhai is the predecessor of Jingxinzhai. Jingqingzhai was built in the 22nd year of Qianlong (1757). It is a garden in a garden built by Emperor Qianlong in the style of Jiangnan gardens.

Why is Jingqingzhai (Jingxinzhai) highly recommended by Mr. Liang Sicheng? Next we will walk around the garden along this route.

Jingqingzhai - Baosu Bookstore - Xiaoyudai Bridge - Yanhua Pavilion - Qinquan Gallery - Zhenluan Pavilion

As soon as you enter the gate, you can see a pool. Opposite the pool is Jingqingzhai, which is five rooms wide, with a front porch and a back porch.

There is a plaque with the official script "Jing Qing Zhai" hanging high outside the hall, which is said to have been written by Lu Huixiang, the Foreign Affairs Minister of the Beiyang Government.

Jingxinzhai is famous for its stacked stones. There are countless famous stones in the garden, but there is a small Qing Dynasty offering stone in this square pond, which is very precious.

It is carefully carved from a whole piece of white marble into the shape of a natural offering stone. It is about 60 centimeters high. This was rare in ancient times, so this offering stone is extremely valuable.

Jingqingzhai displays palace cultural relics such as dragon couches, tables, and dragon-carved screens. There is a plaque hanging above that reads "Don't put things first", which is taken from the ancient poem "Fu De Don't put things first" by Emperor Qianlong.

After bypassing Jingqingzhai and walking along the corridor on the right, you will come to a relatively independent courtyard - Baosu Bookstore.

This is the place where Emperor Qianlong accompanied the prince to study. The library is equipped with pens, inks, paper and inkstones.

The word "Bao Su" is taken from the concepts of "seeing simplicity, embracing simplicity, being less selfish and having few desires" and "holding Su Su and keeping oneness" in Taoist thought.

There is also a pond in front of Baosu Bookstore, and the overall environment is elegant and quiet. Under the east corridor of the study room is the Yunqin Room, a place for playing and listening to the qin.

Come out of Baosu Bookstore and walk north to reach Xiaoyudai Bridge.

This bridge connects the Baosu Bookstore and the opposite side of the Huahua Xuan. Standing on the Xiaoyudai Bridge, you can enjoy different views from all angles, with pavilions, stacked stones and flowing water, all full of the poetic and picturesque charm of Jiangnan gardens.

This is an excellent location to enjoy the scenery in the garden. There are couplets on both sides of the gate pillars of the Tuan Hua Xuan: The fragrance of flowers and the singing of birds are boundless, and the colors of water and mountains are taken at once, which fully reflects the picturesque scenery here and the beautiful scenery.

Walking west from Kuan Hua Xuan, you can see a Taihu stone rockery. Next to the rockery is a rectangular pavilion, which is the Qinquan Gallery.

The Qinquan Corridor echoes the Jingqingzhai on the opposite side of the pool. Rockeries, green cypresses, stacked stones and red pillars are reflected in the pool. The scenery is very beautiful.

This is standing on the Xiaoyudai Bridge. You can see Jingqingzhai on the left, Qinquan Gallery on the right, and the Pillow Pavilion in the middle. As Mr. Liang Sicheng said, the layout is exquisite, complementing each other, and the scenery is beautiful. It is a royal garden. The best of the best.

On a hill piled with many Taihu stones, there is an octagonal pavilion, which seems to be among the mountains. It is the Zhenluan Pavilion.

Stroll along the promenade under the pavilion and enjoy the beautiful scenery.

There is also a pool under the Zhenluan Pavilion. In summer, you can also see a touch of red maple beside the pool.

Jingxinzhai, formerly known as Jingqingzhai, covers an area of ??more than 9,000 square meters. The garden is dotted with large and small Taihu stones. The pavilions and pavilions are cleverly laid out, and the scenery is quiet and elegant. It is a classic imitation of Jiangnan gardens among royal gardens.
