Yi Peiji's life
Yi Peiji 1880 was born in Huashan, Hunan Province on February 28th. He used to be the principal of Hunan First Normal School and the first president of the Palace Museum.
He received a good education from an early age. After graduating from Hunan dialect school, I studied in Japan. After studying abroad, I joined the League and Wuchang Uprising.
June 65438 +65438 10 +0925, after the establishment of the Palace Museum, he served as the curator and curator of the Cultural Relics Museum. However, Yi Peiji was forced to resign because of the 1933 treasure theft case in the Palace Museum.
After resigning, he moved to the French Concessions in Tianjin and Shanghai. In his later years, Yi Peiji lived a very poor life. 1937, Yi Peiji died at the age of 57.
Extended data:
1934 10, Jiangning District Court prosecuted nine people, including Yi Peiji, the first director of the Palace Museum, Li Zongdong, the secretary general, and Qin Hangong, the accountant.
A year ago, the accusation against Yi Li by the Nanjing District Court was only illegal and fraudulent, but this time it was upgraded to "stealing and selling antiquities". According to the indictment, Yi Peiji took advantage of the opportunity of the national treasure moving south to exchange jewelry for himself.
Steal 13 19 pearls and 526 precious stones, exchange fake pearls for 9606 real pearls, and exchange fake precious stones for 325 1 real precious stones; 1496 pieces of jewelry accessories were removed from the original.
The indictment is eloquent, even the number of pearls stolen is clear, and the behind-the-scenes planning is not a day or two. Yi Peiji, one of the founders of the Palace Museum, was finally accused of stealing from the inside.
Later, Na Zhiliang, who drifted with the national treasure of the Forbidden City for half his life, was escorting the national treasure to Shanghai. In his book seventy years of guarding the national treasures of the Forbidden City, he mentioned that Li Zongdong sent twenty boxes of jewels to Shanghai, and the court was particularly interested in these jewels.
Therefore, Ma Heng, who succeeded Yi Peiji as the director of the Palace Museum, arranged for Na Zhiliang to be inspected by the imperial court. At that time, they set up a long table outside the fourth floor of the warehouse on Catholic Church Street in Shanghai.
Sitting at the table are Mo Zongyou, the prosecutor of the Supreme Court, a judge of Jiangning District Court, a clerk, two jewelry appraisers and Na Zhiliang himself.
Every time a thing is put forward, Na Zhiliang gives it to the appraiser, who gives the name, number of pieces, material and accessories, and the clerk records them one by one.
Check it correctly, and then give it to the people in the Forbidden City by Na Zhiliang for repackaging. If something is false or inconsistent with the account books, it should be sealed separately.
Na Zhiliang does not agree with the whole appraisal process and the qualification of the appraiser. He remembered that there were four beads in a bag and five were written on the ledger, so he quickly registered and stole one.
However, in another bag in the same box, there were four in the ledger, but actually there were five, but they didn't write it down. Na Zhiliang believes that this should also be recorded.
The reason is that some tributes are amateurs, and some have already been replaced by eunuchs. Among these 20 boxes of jewelry, all those identified as counterfeit, unworthy of the name, pearls falling off, and the total amount less than the inventory were recorded on Yi Peiji's head.
