Ionian islands, located on the west coast of Greece, consists of four small islands in the Ionian Sea. The production area stretches 170 miles (274 kilometers), including Corfu Island, the northernmost island.

Historically, the political structure of ionian islands was different from other Greek islands, because it was never ruled by the Ottoman Empire. Roppola is a native grape variety in the island, and its quality has been improved, which has the prospect of revival and prosperity. The white wine produced here is elegant in style, simple in taste and rich in aroma, among which the best quality wine is extremely concentrated and has the potential of aging in bottles for two to three years. Most of the wines produced on this island are only sold in the domestic market.

At present, Zakynthos has begun to try to change the image of Vidya wine, and Ithaca winery has planted a small amount of Mavrodaphne grapes in the south of the island. In Lefkada, the local grape variety Vertzami is very popular with low-yield vineyards. Corfu Island is reviving old wineries and establishing new wineries, and local grape varieties will shine in the future.
