Puxian Opera is commonly known as "Xinghua Opera" because it was formed in Xinghua area (now Putian and Xianyou) and sung in Xinghua dialect. It is popular in Putian, Xianyou, northern Hui 'an and southern Fujian, where Xinghua dialect is popular.
Puxian Opera is simple and elegant, and many movements are deeply influenced by puppet shows, full of unique artistic style.
