What are the ten evils in the Ten Unforgivable Crimes that the ancients used to talk about?
Beijing Qi Shangshu order, Zhao County King wrote the Qi law The twelve said ten evils are listed as ten serious crimes:One is to conspire against, two is to be rebellious, three is to be rebellious, four is to be descending, five is to be evil, six is to be unethical, seven is to be disrespectful, eight is to be unfilial, nine is to be unrighteous, and ten is to be internal strife.
Translated, this means that plotting against the ruler means you want to overthrow the ruler at the time, which is the most serious, so it is listed as the first article,
And the second article of the Great Rebellion means destroying the houses where the ruler's family lived during his life or after his death.
The third article is about betraying the ruler of the time.
The fourth one is about surrendering to the enemy while fighting a war.
The next one, in order, is to speak of killing, or offending the ruler, as well as dishonoring one's family, domestic violence, mutilating one's coworkers or superiors, and so on, and the last one, internal strife, refers to incest.
And the ten unforgivable evils means that if you commit one of the above there is no reason to let you go. And the laws of the time would set these up because breaking them would hurt the interests of the ruling class at the time, so they were later used throughout the dynasties.
And in the beginning it didn't specifically say what the ten evils were, just that in Buddhism it's often said that doing something will lead to hell.
For example, the Buddha's Unknown Sutra states:
The causes of sin are the body, the mouth, and the mind. Bodily misdeeds are: killing, stealing, and evil prostitution; oral misdeeds are: delusional speech, double-tonguing, foul-mouthedness, and colorful speech; and mental misdeeds are: envy, anger, and arrogance. These are the ten evils, and they are rewarded with evil sins, which should be repented of with one heart.
Translated, this means:
There are three main aspects to these sins, the physical aspect, the speech aspect, and the thought aspect.
The physical aspect of evil is murder and theft and rape.
The evil of the verbal aspect is telling lies, speaking evil, and acting in a way that is not true to one's face.
And the evil of the mind is to be jealous of others and to look down on them and put them down.
If you do any of these things you need to be mindful of them.
However, this also amounts to a restriction for Buddhists, if you do these things you will be punished, like you will be reincarnated as an animal in your next life or something like that, but with evil of course there will be good deeds, so if you do good deeds regularly you will be rewarded with good karma.
And these two statements are actually different, the first one says you that is legally mandated, and the second one says that this is a Buddhist regulation for morality.
