What is Tagore's creative style?

Tagore's creation is based on the traditional Indian music Rag and Bangladeshi folk music, and draws lessons from the creative techniques of western music (especially English songs of19th century), forming a unique personal style, which is known as "Robin Delanat Music". He emphasized that lyrics and melody are combined in an unusual way. For Tagore, "Lyrics without melody are like butterflies without wings, which capture the essence of Indian society" (quoted from History of Indian Culture, edited by Basham, translated by Min Guangpei, etc. , 1999 Commercial Press). Although conservative musicians criticized his works, they were not written in pure ragtime, but were widely circulated in Bangladesh, especially among intellectuals. It is no exaggeration to say that modern Indian music originated from Tagore's songs. His music works involve many musical genres, such as opera, musicals, orchestral music, dramatic music, symphonic poems and more than 2,500 songs. After Tagore's death, the international university he founded edited and published more than 60 volumes of Tagore songs in 1942.
