What are the main processes of iron and steel metallurgy?

Sintering-ironmaking-steelmaking-continuous casting (die casting)-steel rolling.

Sintering: it is a method of providing concentrate for blast furnace with iron ore powder. It is a process that iron ore powder, flux, fuel and returned ore are made into massive smelting raw materials according to a certain proportion.

Ironmaking-The main purpose of blast furnace smelting process is to economically and efficiently obtain liquid pig iron with required temperature and composition from iron ore.

The whole process of blast furnace smelting can be summarized as follows: under the condition of as low energy consumption as possible, reducing, slagging, heat transfer and slag-iron reaction can be completed with high efficiency by controlling the reverse movement of burden and airflow, and liquid metal products with ideal chemical composition and temperature can be obtained.

Qualified molten iron is produced by various chemical reduction reactions of blast furnace burden, then it is sent to steelmaking through torpedo tank, and then it is smelted into steel in converter as steelmaking raw material. The slag is washed and discharged into the slag pool. After the separation of slag and water, the slag is discharged and recovered.

Blast furnace gas is a by-product produced in the process of blast furnace smelting, which is used as low calorific value gas fuel for hot blast stoves, sintering, boilers, preheating furnaces and heating furnaces.

Steelmaking-broadly speaking, it is the process of decarburization, heating and alloying of molten iron through oxidation reaction. Its main tasks are decarbonization, deoxidation, heating, removal of gas and nonmetallic inclusions and alloying.

Continuous casting-that is, the process of cooling qualified molten steel into billet in continuous casting machine.

Steel rolling: the pressure working process of changing the shape of billet between rotating rolls.
