Tonglu paper-cut is an ancient Han folk art, and the folk paper-cut in Tonglu, Zhejiang Province has a long history and is widely spread. After years of development, works and talents have been produced, forming the characteristics of Jiangnan paper-cutting, which are concise and general, thick and beautiful, exquisite and subtle. Many paper-cut works by Hu Zhi, a centenarian, were exhibited abroad and collected by art galleries and museums. Xie's paper-cut series won the national gold medal. Tonglu was named "the hometown of folk paper-cutting in Zhejiang Province".
