How to make marionettes?

Preparation: lead paper, watercolor pen, oil pastel, scissors, needle, thread, chopsticks.

(1) Draw the body and four legs respectively.

(2) Cut the body and four legs with scissors according to the line.

(3) Nail the limbs to the corresponding parts of the body with thread, pull the other ends of the limbs with thread and connect them with chopsticks.

Material selection: paulownia and camphor wood in Taishun are generally selected, because the wood is brittle, easy to cut and not easy to deform after making. Producers often have no special requirements on the quality of materials, because puppet making mainly depends on technology, and the defects of materials can be made up in the process of carving or painting. Just to ensure that the puppet will not be deformed again after molding, paulownia and camphor wood will be put on for at least two years before they can be used.

Knocking blank: according to the pre-designed graphics, it is the first work order, which tests the basic skills. After the blank is finished, leave it for a period of time, and when it dries naturally, it can be polished-the surface is smooth.

Priming: Like makeup and foundation, it mainly deals with natural pores and burrs of wood. Every time you hit the bottom of a layer, you have to re-cast the light. Generally, it takes seven or eight times to hit the bottom and throw light seven or eight times to complete a puppet.

Color painting: making muppets usually uses Peking Opera makeup. Modern puppeteers often use oil paints. In the past, only pastels could be used, which required high technology.

Facade: Carefully draw eyes, eyebrows and mouth on the painted puppet face. A puppet blank can be the same, but at this time you can draw emotions and draw different characters.
