Dehua Street was founded in A.D. 1905. After Han Jing Railway 190 1 was completed and opened to traffic, it promoted the commercial development of Zhengzhou. Chen Long, the governor of Henan Province, asked the Qing government for approval to turn Zhengzhou into a commercial port, and began to plan the road construction around Zhengzhou to form Dehua Street. At that time, this street was bounded by Yuanling Street, with Tian Zhongli in the south and Huiren Street in the north. Later, because the homonym of "Hui" and "Extinction" was taboo for businessmen, Liu Bangji, a juren, joined hands with other businessmen in the late Qing Dynasty to name Dehua Street with the meaning of "Dehua educating people", which has been in use ever since.

Before liberation, Dehua Street was one of the busiest streets in Zhengzhou. In the 1990s, famous shops such as Demaoxiang pickles garden, Tongrentang drugstore, Kuixiang flower shop, Juntai bank, Wuzhou newspaper office (publishing newspapers), Ji Bo hospital, the first semicolon of Hongxing Garden, Tianyiquan bathroom (predecessor of Dehua Street bathroom), Kyoto Tanji wonton restaurant and Laozhangwai wonton restaurant appeared one after another. This street starts from Datong Road in the south and ends at Erqi Square in the north. It is 400 meters long and 10 meters wide. It is this short and narrow street, but there are many famous shops. Dehua Street is the main commercial street in Zhengzhou in 1930s and 1940s, which is very prosperous. According to the older generation, Dehua Street at that time was already "like a meeting every day, like the New Year every day".
