Yu Yaoqiang's Artistic Features

"Yu Yaoqiang" is a kind of Han opera with strong local characteristics in eastern Zhejiang. From the beginning, Yuyao has been sung throughout Shaoxing, and it has always belonged to Yuezhou (Shaoxing), which can also be called "Yuequ" or "Yueqiang".

The characteristics of "Yu Yaoqiang" are as follows: firstly, influenced by the northern zaju, it is mainly based on the local tunes of Yuyao in Huiji, and it combines many elements of northern music, making it accepted by the masses in the middle and lower reaches of Jianghuai; Secondly, oratorios are the mainstay, accompanied by low-volume percussion instruments, which make the listeners feel refreshed and have no sense of noise when singing; Third, the singing is smooth and soft; Fourth, the tone is low and soft, and the lyrical color is strong; Fifth, it is not limited by the venue and can temporarily perform in squares and various social temples; Sixth, the use of backstage vocal accompaniment, full of charm; Seventh, don't use music scores, input tunes according to the rules; Eight, sing and speak in plain English, and sometimes sing "rolling".
