As one of the national intangible cultural heritages in Anhui Province, Lu Opera was originally named Daoqi Opera, also known as Xiaoxiao Opera, Xiaoxiao Opera, Hualan Opera, Tea Picking Opera, Lantern Opera, Erxiao Opera, Hezhou Opera, Daoji Opera and Rice Season Opera. It is popular in western and central Anhui and some areas south of the Yangtze River between Jianghuai and Jianghuai.

The traditional singing of Lu Opera is divided into two parts: the main melody and coloratura. The performance is simple and lively, simple and true. At the same time, the actors in Lu Opera have several horns, which are replaced by turns. They still have to beat gongs and drums. The early Lu opera was accompanied by gongs and drums, mainly including three percussion instruments: hall gong, big gong and small gong.

There are few historical documents about Lu Opera. The earliest known historical data is a stone tablet unearthed in He Jiong Town, Chaohu Lake, Anhui Province in 1985, which was banned by Chen Bing, the magistrate of Chaoxian County, during the Tongzhi period of Qing Dynasty, including a play of nearly seven plays.
