Chemistry: What are metal-organic compounds? Details!
Organometallic compounds are also known as metal-organic compounds (metallo-organic compound). Alkyl (including methyl, ethyl, propyl, butyl, etc.) and aromatic (phenyl, etc.) of the hydrocarbon group and metal atoms combined to form compounds, as well as carbon and metal atoms directly combined with the substance of the general term. With lithium, sodium, magnesium, calcium, zinc, cadmium, mercury, beryllium, aluminum, tin, lead and other metals can form more stable organometallic compounds. Can be broadly divided into alkylmetalic compounds (alkylmetalic compounds) and aromatic metal compounds (arymetalic compounds) two categories. Have an impact on the environment, the former for the methylmercury compounds, tetraethyl lead, tributyl tin; the latter for the phenylmercury salts, triphenyltin, etc.; and for gasoline antiknocking agent organic manganese compounds such as tricarbonylcyclopentadienylmanganese and so on. Most of these substances are synthetic, but lead, mercury, cadmium, tin, etc. in nature will be methylated (or alkylated), such as inorganic mercury into methylmercury. Most of these are due to the action of microorganisms in the substrate of the water body, and in fish through various biological transformations. Generally organometallic compounds are fat-soluble and pass through biofilms more easily than inorganic metals, are absorbed through the intestinal wall, and enter the cerebral blood vessels and the placenta in greater quantities; therefore, they are more biotoxic. Alkyl metal compounds tend to cause central nervous disorders. In the body, the microsomal drug metabolizing enzyme system, mainly in the liver and other organs, causes organometallic compounds to shed their alkyl and aromatic groups and eventually become inorganic metals. Toxicity induced through the membranes of living organisms, with birds being the most sensitive.
