What is the activated sludge process? What principle is used?
Activated sludge process is an aerobic biological treatment method for sewage, which was invented by Clark and Gage in England in 19 12. Activated sludge process and its derivative improvement process are the most widely used municipal sewage treatment methods at present. It can remove soluble and colloidal biodegradable organic matter, suspended solids and other substances that can be adsorbed by activated sludge in sewage, and can also remove part of phosphorus and nitrogen. The general name of various methods of microbial suspended in water in biological treatment of wastewater. It is named because the suspended microbial population is in the state of mud flower (floc).
Principle:
Under the condition of artificial oxygenation, sewage and various microorganisms are continuously mixed and cultivated to form activated sludge. Organic pollutants in sewage are decomposed and removed by biological coagulation, adsorption and oxidation of activated sludge. Then the sludge is separated from water, most of the sludge flows back to the aeration tank, and the rest is discharged from the activated sludge system.
