What does the performance test include?

Performance testing includes load testing and stress testing.

Performance test is to test the performance index of the system by simulating various normal, peak and abnormal load conditions with automatic test tools. Load test and stress test are both performance tests and can be combined. Through load testing, the performance of the system under various workloads is determined, and the goal is to test the changes of various performance indexes of the system when the load gradually increases. Stress testing is a test to obtain the maximum service level that the system can provide by determining the bottleneck or unacceptable performance point of the system.

Performance testing plays an important role in software quality assurance, which includes a variety of testing contents. China Software Testing Center classifies performance testing into three aspects: performance testing applied to clients, performance testing applied to networks and performance testing applied to servers. Usually, the effective and reasonable combination of these three aspects can realize the comprehensive analysis of system performance and bottleneck prediction.
