Core cavity code
Cavities of CAV and COR cores, also known as convex-concave dies, moving fixed dies, front and back dies or convex-concave dies, are key parts for molding the inner and outer surfaces of plastic parts in the mold, and their quality directly affects the quality of parts and the service life of the mold. Generally, the cavity of the core is the front die and the core is the back die, abbreviated as CAV and COR.
Cores and cavities usually appear in sand casting process, and cores are needed for parts that cannot be directly drawn. Cavity is the gap formed by the combination of sand mold and sand core after sand mold is completed, including casting cavity and gating system cavity. These cavities are filled with molten metal after pouring, cooled and polished, which is the casting finished product.
