Top Ten Mascots in China
Dragon is a kind of god beast and a totem of the Chinese nation, so there is no doubt that it ranks first among the "top ten mascots". However, because the status of "dragon" is too lofty, people will never be allowed to use the dragon pattern for a long period of time, because it has obviously become a symbol of the royal family, but even so, it still cannot shake the dragon's position at the top of the "top ten mascots".
Second, Phoenix.
Phoenix is actually a combination of "phoenix" and "phoenix". The male is "Phoenix" and the female is "Phoenix". Sima Xiangru, a famous poet in the Western Han Dynasty, once wrote an immortal poem "Phoenix Seeking Phoenix", and the name "Phoenix Seeking Phoenix" is very telling.
Phoenix, like dragon, is also a legendary god beast (god bird). As we said just now, the pattern of "dragon" is not allowed to be used by the people, and so is the phoenix, because "dragon" symbolizes the emperor and "phoenix" represents the queen.
Third, Kirin.
Among the "Top Ten Mascots", apart from the dragon and phoenix, there is no doubt that Kirin will be one. Kirin, like phoenix, is also a combination of male and female. The man's name is Qi and the woman's name is Lin. It is also a legendary beast. The ancients always thought that "when Kirin appeared, there must be good luck".
Fourth, turtles.
Dragon, phoenix, unicorn and tortoise are all called "Four Spirits", but "Turtle" is the only real animal among the "Four Spirits". Since it is called "spirit", it is obviously a "god beast", and "god head" should only appear in myths and legends, but why is the real turtle also called "spirit"? In fact, the reason is very simple, because turtles have the longest life span of all animals, and turtles represent the meaning of "longevity".
Five, deer
Deer is obviously a real animal, but it is also the animal closest to "God". We all seem to have the impression that those immortals always love to ride a sika deer, the most famous of which is, of course, the "birthday star" in Fu Lushou Samsung; Therefore, deer also represents "longevity" and symbolizes "Lu" of "Fu Lushou". After all, "deer" and "Lu" are homophonic.
Six, crane
When we mention "crane", we often add the word "fairy" in front of it and call it "crane". So "crane" and "deer" are the same, although they are real animals.
They are all animals very close to "God". These poems by Cui Hao, a poet in the Tang Dynasty, left us with the image of "crane": "The yellow crane carries saints to heaven, the yellow crane tower is empty, the yellow crane will never return to the world, and the white clouds will never fly without him". Like deer, cranes symbolize "longevity".
Seven, toad
Toad, commonly known as "toad", is a symbol of "wealth" although its name is not pleasant to hear. Do we still remember that whether we go to a restaurant for dinner or stay in a hotel, we always like to put a "golden toad" on the "cashier" of a merchant, which means "the way to make money". In addition, there is a folk saying that "those who get the golden toad get big money", which is also the truth.
Eight, Yuanyang
There seems to be no need to say more about "Yuanyang", because who doesn't know that "Yuanyang" is a symbol of good love? In addition, Yuanyang, like Phoenix and Kirin, is a combination of male and female. The male is Yuanyang and the female is Yuanyang. Because "Yuanyang" and "Yuanyang" always appear in pairs, they become the most veritable "love birds".
Nine, magpie
Magpie has been a symbol of "auspiciousness" and "good luck" since ancient times. As the saying goes, "when a magpie crows, good things come." I'm afraid China people's favorite birdsong is the magpie's song, because it is to convey good news to people. If Yuanyang is the best "love birds", then magpie is obviously the best "good news bird".
Ten, bats (or fish)
Regarding the tenth "mascot", some people say it is a bat, while others say it should be a fish. However, whether bats or fish are regarded as "mascots", they are homophonic. "Bat" and "Fu" are homophonic, so the bat is a symbol of "Fu". In some folk paintings, there is often a pattern of "five bats", which means "five blessings". "Fish" and "fish" are homophonic, which makes us more clear. There is a surplus every year.
