1. The Red Women's Scouts, the Women's Army Special Company of the Second Independent Division of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army, was an armed force under the Red Three Regiment of the Qiongya Soviet Area led by Feng Baiju during the period of the Agrarian Revolutionary War, and was founded on May 1, 1931.
2. The vast majority of this armed force came from young women in the countryside, and some from the peasant red guard. The unit had a clear flag and brave combat, and had served as a cover in the second anti-siege of the Qiongya Soviet area. Its deeds have been adapted into a ballet in the early years of the founding of the country and are known by the masses across the country.
3. At around 8:40 a.m. on April 19, 2014, Lu Yexiang, the last Red Maiden Scout veteran in China, passed away at her home in Zhongyuan Town, Qionghai City, Hainan Province, at the age of 100 years.
